E Tenebrae Lux V: Dark Angels

For the fifth year, the Bolter and Chainsword is celebrating the E Tenebrae Lux (ETL) painting challenge. And I’m going to do my part for the Dark Angels! Will you?

The ETL is a fun event where sub-forums compete between each other to see which faction can paint more points. This will be my third year taking part and, once again, I’ll pledge my alliance to the Dark Angels.

Last year I was only able to paint 3 Ravenwing Knights. This year I was doubting if I should join the event or not, as it’s been a long time since I played any 40k games and I feel like I don’t have enough time to paint the miniatures for the games I do play, much less the ones from games I don’t play.

In the end, I decided to join (no surprise, otherwise I wouldn’t be posting about it). Even if it’s with small vows I wanted to help my fellow Dark Angels and take the chance to paint some miniatures I’ve had lying around, unpainted because it was unlikely I would play with them.

I’ll start with a Dreadnought I plan to do some weathering on. Once the ETL ends, my (long-term) plan is to finish the couple of Tactical Squads I’ve had half painted since forever and with the rest of things I have painted, see how close I am to having a Codex legal army with it. If I can make one with what I have unbuilt, which I believe I will, and don’t need much I might even build and paint it right away(-ish) or plan to have it ready for the next ETL.

If you have a bunch of non-xenos unpainted 40k miniatures I invite you to take part in the ETL V. The competition is a fun way to motivate you to paint those miniatures. You should try it. Unless you’re Chaos, we don’t want them winning three years in a row, do we?
